My friend just made a line of watches. A. Line. Of. Watches.
Let’s pause right there for a second.
What the hell am I doing with my life. That is the most bad-ass thing I’ve ever heard of. Who wakes up and says to themselves: “Self - I’m gonna make watches today.” And this mofo, my brother, had the nerve to make some of the most beautiful watches I’ve ever seen.
Now, life is not a competition - or at least that’s what I keep telling myself. But my homeboy is #WINNING!
And I’m not mad at him. He deserves it. This guy moved to a whole new country when he was little, learned a whole new language, bypassed societal class expectations, went to university and became an engineer. He then worked for one of the largest firms on the planet.
Like . . . that could be the end of the story and it would be better than some of these wack-ass Oscar nods, But my boy decided to become the next LVMH and I’m wondering . . . so . . . are you hiring, lol?!
In all seriousness though, I cannot adequately express my black boy joy over this. I mean - this is creative and innovative and completely necessary.
To be clear: Watches matter. People take notice and make judgments about you based on what you wear. To be honest, I have been searching for an affordable statement piece for a very long time. I work for the gub-ment, so ain’t nobody got time for no Rolex - but anything under 200 bucks is normally not worth the cost either considering how many times you may need to get it repaired (note for all those who think i’m too boughetto for my own good: the watch I currently wear was 100 bucks and I have spent that much or more repairing it).
Not only are Schwarz watches (schwarz-watches.de) beautiful and timeless, but they are also AFFORDABLE.
I want you guys to know that my friend didn’t ask me to do this. I’m not getting any kickbacks and I have insisted on paying for my watches (yes, everybody in the family is getting one) because that’s how we are supposed to support each other.
