My Ovaries Are Screaming!
Y’all,
I’m so ashamed to say it, but I really want kids. It already looks like I’m pregnant, but hanging out with the babies of my childhood friend sent my ovaries into overdrive.
Let’s back up a few steps! The hubby and I needed a break from Tampa (because . . . Florida), so we decided to visit my parents in Atlanta for the weekend. My childhood friend and former neighbor heard we were in town and brought her three kids by the house today. Her eldest is my Godson - and he has gotten so big. I feel so bad because I missed so many stages of his life but I promised him that I was going to be the coolest gay uncle / godfather a kid could ever want. Then I gave him a Super Nintendo because that’s what the kids are playing these days, right?
Anyway - the second oldest kid fell in love with Bae . . . because they are both foodies and the little kid, who always looked like he was telling Bae the secrets of the world, was actually sending my husband to the Kitchen to bring him more food. Turns out the kid wants to be a scientist. Yo - they are in love and I could not stand all of the cuteness.
Not to be outdone, the baby girl (who I affectionately call “lil mama”) stole everybody’s heart. She immediately came to my arms and wanted to fly like superman. Because she is superman. Then she grabbed her food - and threw it on the ground. Really, anything that was in her way, she just tossed it aside or threw it behind her. Her wrath against her brothers toys went unquenched and it was glorious. She followed them around, then came to me and giggled and squirmed and talked and …
IT. WAS. EVERYTHING!
BABY BABY BABY BABY BABY BABY BABY BABY BABY BABY BABY BABY BABY
I knew I wanted kids, but gosh - it was just so much fun being with them and seeing them discover things and watching Patty (re)teach the middle child to say “please.” Ugh - my tiny little black heart is suddenly filled with so much joy - but phew did they wear us out!!!?! My body is tired, Jesus!
With all of my gushing over these precious babies, one must post the perennial question - are we having kids?
And I am proud to say that the answer is a resounding yes! But as much as we like trying the natural way, we have decided to adopt sometime soon after our next tour in West Africa.
So to those of you who want me to be a daddy - you’re getting your wish. You’ll just have to wait a little while.
In the meantime - check me out teaching lil’ mama how to fly ;-)
Peace and Blessings,
LKB
